Why The 2018 Subaru Forester Is A Fantastic Compact SUV Option

Compact SUV’s are highly popular vehicles — and for good reason. Both sporty and practical, there’s a solid aspect of functionality made available. Whether it be burgeoning families, couples, or single individuals, the compact SUV serves a tremendous purpose for virtually everyone. There are a plethora of options out on the current 2018 market. Certain people look for traits based upon personal need. Rarely does a compact SUV offer all-encompassing comfort across the board. However, one of those spectacular cars is the 2018 Subaru Forester. Subaru worked tirelessly to provide customers all over the world with a quality vehicle at a very affordable price.

The 2018 Subaru Forester is quite a diverse vehicle when looking at the vast number of configurations. Simply put, there’s something for everyone stylistically. The configurations include the 2.5i Manual ($22,795), 2.5i CVT ($23,795), 2.5i Premium Manual ($25,695), 2.5i Premium CVT ($26,195), 2.5i Limited ($29,395), 2.0XT Premium ($29,495), 2.5i Touring ($33,090), and the 2.0XT Touring ($36,090).

When looking at these options, the base engine includes a 2.5-L four-cylinder model with 170 HP. If in need of a step-up in juice, one can procure a 250-HP turbocharged 2.0-L four-cylinder. The second of the aforementioned choices produces considerable punch in both power and acceleration.

The 2018 Subaru Forester is relatively decent in terms of fuel economy. The automatic transmission of the base model allows for estimations of 26 miles-per-gallon in the city and 32 miles-per-gallon on the highway. The souped up engine choice receives slight deviations (23/27).

Aesthetically, this vehicle has smooth lines, bold features, and a handsome overall presentation. Exciting color choices for the prospective car buyer include Jasmine Green Metallic, Crystal Black Silica, Dark Gray Metallic, Ice Silver Metallic, Quartz Blue Pearl, Red Venetian Pearl, and Crystal White Pearl.

While the interior of the 2018 Subaru Forester isn’t overly flashy, it offers sturdiness to go along with user-friendly interface and extreme overall comfort. The leg-room in both rows are above-average — as is the visibility for the driver. Base models come equipped with a 6.2-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth capabilities, a rear-view camera, four speakers, and a USB port. Of course, there are upgrades with extra fees — including such perks as navigation, an eight-speaker system, a 7-inch touch screen, and a panoramic moon-roof.

Those interested in purchasing a compact SUV normally require good trunk space. Whether it’s lugging around sporting equipment for your kids — or personal items for business or a trip — having ample room is crucial. For a compact SUV, the 2018 Subaru Forester has excellent metrics in the cargo space category. Normal space includes 34.4 cubic feet — though this is enhanced to 74.7 cubic feet with the back row folded down.

From a safety standpoint, the 2018 Subaru Forester received “GOOD” ratings on all five major safety categories from the IIHS. The NHTSA gave this vehicle 5-star marks on two categories — including Overall Rating.

Without question, this is a fantastic car for those in the market for a compact SUV.
