Honda Motor Company has been known to produce a litany of quality vehicles. Regardless of size, make or model, the Japanese giant has consistently manufactured cars rooted in functionality and sophistication. The current year is no different — as the ’18 Honda Pilot reigns supreme within the current SUV market. Generally speaking, this model encompasses plenty of impressive facets — particularly for a larger family. One will be shocked to hear about the value this vehicle possesses when compared to its price.
There are five configurations for the 2018 Honda Pilot: LX ($30,900), EX ($33,330), EX-L ($36,760), Touring ($41,970), and Elite ($47,470). From a color standpoint, each of these five models come in Steel Sapphire Metallic, Obsidian Blue Pearl, Black Forest Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, Deep Scarlet Pearl, and White Diamond Pearl. Every version of the 2018 Honda Pilot comes equipped with a 3.5-Liter six-speed automatic transmission V-6 engine (280 HP). Enhancements for both the Touring and Elite models are available (nine-speed automatic transmission).
The fuel economy for this vehicle is quite good. It gets approximations of 20 miles-per-gallon in city driving, and 27 miles–per-gallon on the highway. An improved suspension makes a traditionally smooth ride even more comfortable. This is an attractive aspect — particular when possessing up to seven passengers (not including the driver).
While the interior might not possess many of the bells and whistles of its competitors, the cabin is both highly spacious and functional. A neat aspect of the 2018 Honda Pilot is the fact that the third row possesses more space than the normal three-row vehicle. This works well when packing in children for a long road trip or even a quick dash to the store. Standard Pilots come with a seven-speaker audio system, a 5″ display screen, a multi-angle rear-view camera, Bluetooth capabilities, and a USB port. Added upgrades include a 10-speaker sound system, HD/Satellite radio, a moon roof, and rear-seat entertainment.
Another fantastic element of the 2018 Honda Pilot is the cargo space. A three-row vehicle rarely possesses this type of room. With all rows up, it offers 16.5 cubic-feet of cargo space. When the final row is folded down, it expands to 46.8 cubic-feet. With both back rows down, it increases even further to 83.8 cubic-feet.
Staying in line with the Honda mantra for functionality and practicality, the 2018 Honda Pilot has fantastic safety metrics. The IIHS offered its top billing of ‘GOOD’ for all five major safety tests. The NHTSA gave 5-star marks for two categories — including side crash and overall rating. With many viewing the 2018 Honda Pilot as a family-friendly car, these safety results are highly intriguing.
Without question, there’s a lot to like about the 2018 Honda Pilot. The sheer size of the vehicle — coupled with its comfy features and strong safety metrics — makes this a very dependable option.
